We’ve had lots of questions from our fantastic fans and sponsors about the early finish to the season and what happens now, so we’ll address what we can here. Any queries just get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org
Q So is that the season over?
A Unfortunately yes. The game v Wild on Sunday was our last game of 2019-20; EIHA and SIHA have both stopped all ice hockey, and in the spirit of looking after our players, staff, volunteers and supporters we fully support this decision, disappointing as it is not to be able to complete the season.
Q What about next season?
A We don’t know anything for sure yet, but we fully expect the new season to start as normal in September. We are working hard behind the scenes to look after everyone and to be ready when the present crisis is over.
Q What about owned and loaned shirts?
A Unfortunately we have had to cancel the owned and loaned night we had planned. We will look to rearrange this prior to the new season starting, once the present crisis is over. We will contact all owners by email to see if you want your shirt posted out, or if you can wait to collect it.
Q There was a race night and player awards planned?
A Unfortunately this event has had to be postponed as well, but we will re-arrange it for another date prior to the new season starting. All race and horse sponsorship will be valid for the new date.
Q Are the team all okay?
A All of our players, staff and volunteers are fine at the moment – and we hope they stay that way. We are working hard to make sure everyone is okay and that we get everyone back home as soon as possible.
Q What happens next?
A As in every close season we are looking to the future, and the start of the new season. Our coaches will be talking to players, and when the time is right they will start making announcements.
Q Can I own and loan a shirt or sponsor a player for next season?
A Yes please! Player announcements will have details when they are released, or contact us now at email@example.com
Finally, a few words…
Head coach Martin Grubb – “I know we were all disappointed by the way the season was ended but we support the decision as people’s health comes first and I hope everyone is staying safe. This season is one I’m proud of, especially the way we managed to compete and achieve all we have as a team. Our supporters are a tremendously passionate group who have been fantastic both home and away and we were delighted as a team that we got to at least celebrate the SNL trophy with them at our final game. I look forward to adding to the young core we have at the club and trying to keep bringing success to the club and town. I urge you all to look after yourself and each other and stay safe and I look forward to seeing you all soon.”
Club Chairman Ian Bryden – “Everyone at the club was really disappointed that the season was cut short due to circumstances beyond our control, but in the present situation with Covid-19 it was the right thing to do. I want to thank everyone associated with the team and the club for their great efforts over the season, and a special thanks to our fans for their tremendous support over the season – you really were the fifth line for the team. We look forward to welcoming players, staff, our fantastic fans, great volunteers and our loyal sponsors back to the “shark tank” next season. As soon as we know what is happening we will share it with everyone – keep an eye on our social media for updates.”
There will be further statements and reflections on the season over the next wee while so keep checking our social media and website; in the meantime, keep your distance, wash your hands and stay safe.
