The Building Craftsmen Dumfries Ltd Solway Sharks are pleased to have added experienced defenceman Michael Thomson to the 2019/20 line up.
Thomson is a former GB youth international and played the majority of his hockey in Dumfries with spells at Castlereagh and Blackburn. Last season he split his time between the Sharks and Stingrays so has good experience of both the SNL and NIHL and that is experience will be valuable for the season ahead.
Head coach Martin Grubb commented “Mike is a player who has worked really hard over the past few years to get himself back playing at this level and his experience will be a help to our defensive core this season. He has composure on the puck, makes a good first pass and can read a game well and with Hutchy retiring it was important to be able to add a guy like Mike to help our team. He is a good guy to have around our team and I look forward to working with him again”.
Thomson stated “I’m delighted be part of this years team. I have been working hard in the off season and I’m ready to get going. This years team looks good, we have some really talented players and a room full of good guys, I think everyone is ready to play hard and get the results. Hopefully we can end the year with some silverware”.
Michael Thomson will wear the number 17 jersey as he patrols the blue line.
