Solway Sharks are pleased to announce the return of Head Coach Martin Grubb for the 2019/20 season. Grubb will return for his 12th consecutive season as Head Coach and will be hoping to continue building a team that is capable of competing for trophies across all competitions as well as developing young players as he has done over his successful tenure.
43 year old Grubb had the following to say about returning: “I’m pleased after a summer of discussions to return to coach the senior team in our program in what will be a different season to the last few we’ve been used too. We are going to look at developing young players and ensure they are ready to play senior hockey as well as using a core group of experience to help them.”
“It is going to be a different team as the vultures from the new NIHL have been circling and after nearly all of our players so we will have a summer of rebuilding. This is a compliment to the club as it shows we have built a successful team and allowed players to develop through our junior and senior teams to be able to play at a higher level and we have always said that’s our job to ensure they play at the highest level available to them. We of course would of liked to keep them and be in the higher league but we now have an opportunity to further develop our own youngsters and allow them to make an impact on both the NIHL North and SNL leagues.”
“I hope our supporters will get behind this team like they have in the past and we look forward to the season ahead. Lots of work has been going on behind the scenes with the Sharks taking the decision to play in both the NIHL and SNL this season.”
