Stenton Returns for 2019/20

The Solway Sharks are pleased to confirm the return of GB U18 international Liam Stenton for the 2019/20 season. Liam had a breakthrough year last season and was voted young player of the year at the end of season awards and will be expected to become a valuable member of this years team. The 17 year old was selected to play for the Great Britain under 18 team in the world championships in Hungary and also captained the Scotland U17 team and played for Scotland at u19 level and will be hoping that another impressive season for the Sharks will see him gain further international recognition. Stenton amassed an impressive 13 points in 30 games from
defence and the Product of the Solway Sharks junior development program will be looking to continue his development in the NIHL and SNL this season and hopefully gain more experience after training with Glasgow Clan last season.
Head Coach Martin Grubb commented “Liam had a great season last year and has set himself high standards and we will be looking for him to continue his progression this year. He is very coachable and with his skating ability, composure on the puck and compete level he has a solid set of skills to build on and I see him playing lots of minutes in key situations this year. It was important that we got him back as I think we are the best place for him to keep progressing at this stage of his young career”.
Stenton said “I had a great season last year and I felt I learned a lot playing at a higher level. I hope the fans get behind us like they did last year. It really makes a difference. I’m looking forward to playing my part in the team this year. And to seeing what the season brings as we rebuild our team and compete for trophies”.
Liam Stenton will again wear the number 10 shirt.
